Our Story

We were built around family.

We've grown through relationships.

Perfect Pasta began with a simple belief: better food comes from real ingredients, skilled people, and pride in how things are made. More than 35 years later, those values still guide how we work: with our employees, our suppliers, our customers, and the families who ultimately enjoy our food.

Today, Perfect Pasta operates more than 90,000 square feet of facility space, serves customers in 35+ states, creates products for brands and partners across the country, and employs more than 150 talented people from our local community.

Our FDA-registered, USDA-inspected, and SQF-certified facilities support the quality, consistency, and food safety standards our customers expect.

More than 35 years in the making

Land of Opportunity
1967-1974

Luigi arrives in the United States from Italy with $5 and a determination to build a new life. He makes his way to Chicago, finds work in the food business, and begins learning the city, its neighborhoods, and the people who would shape the next chapter of his life.

A Place for Friends
1975-1981

With family, friends, and food always at the center, Luigi opens a social club where people can gather and feel at home. In 1980, that same spirit leads him to open La Capannina in Chicago and turn his love of food and hospitality into a restaurant of his own.

Fresh Pasta

Fresh Concepts
1982-1986

Always looking for new ways to make the dining experience more memorable, Luigi brings a vintage pasta machine into La Capannina and begins making fresh pasta in the middle of the restaurant. The demonstrations quickly become a signature part of the experience and help build a loyal local following.

What's in a Name?
1987-1993

Guests keep telling Luigi the same thing: his pasta is “perfect.” The name sticks. Soon, he begins bringing that pasta beyond the restaurant and into local restaurants and grocers. As demand grows, Perfect Pasta moves into its first dedicated manufacturing space in Chicago and begins expanding across the city.

We're Partners Now
1994-2000

As the business grows, Luigi brings his brother Leo into Perfect Pasta to help expand the product line and customer base. A few years later, a strategic partnership with Mario of Marco Foods adds new experience, relationships, and ideas - helping the company grow beyond Chicagoland and into the broader Midwest.

Take to the Skies
2001-2005

Strong industry relationships open an unexpected new chapter for Perfect Pasta: prepared meals for the travel industry. The company develops its first in-flight meal for a major U.S. airline and goes on to support prepared-meal programs for airline customers across domestic and international service.

We Call it Home
2006-2011

Continued growth leads Perfect Pasta to a new 50,000-square-foot facility with more room for people, equipment, and production. The move also creates new opportunities in the local community across production, quality, maintenance, sales, distribution, and other parts of the growing business.

Evolution & the Future
2012-2018

Perfect Pasta continues to evolve with new products, new capabilities, and a growing customer base. The company expands into gluten-free pasta and, in 2018, adds a second 28,000-square-foot facility nearby to support additional cold storage, logistics, and future growth.

Growing the Family Table
2019-Present

Perfect Pasta continues to grow while staying connected to the values that built the company in the first place. New packaging, prepared meals, expanded capabilities, and new partnerships are helping shape the next chapter - building on more than 35 years of pasta-making experience while creating new opportunities for the next generation.
